I have been an Ann Arbor resident for most of my life, and decided that teaching in Ann Arbor, because of its diversity and unique challenges, was a dream since I began education school.
I grew up loving the outdoors, reading voraciously, traveling often and frequenting the Art Fair, Top of the Park, Michigan football games and Huron Valley Swim Club.
I married my wife, Jessie, in a small ceremony at Big Bend National Park in January of 2018, and we recently welcomed a son, Sage, in October of the same year. We frequently road trip all over, visiting family and National Parks as often as we can.
I consider myself a townie, and can often be spotted walking my dog, Ruby, now usually with my son in tow, through Bird Hills, Gallup Park or at Swift Run dog park.
Education
After graduating PHS in 2006, I attended the University of California at Santa Cruz (Go Banana Slugs!) before transferring to, and ultimately graduating from, EMU (Go Eagles!) with a BS in Social Studies and an RX teaching certificate in 2011. I am qualified to teach U.S. Government, AP and MYP Economics, World History, and U.S. History - and have spent time teaching all of these subjects.
In the fall of 2016, AAPS in general, and Huron in particular, suffered a series of losses in the student body. Feeling ill equipped to help my students through this difficult time, I have been pursuing a Masters in School Counseling through EMU since the winter of 2017.
